start with either a polygamous religion or a religion with concubines, go down intrigue temptation focus, then eventually reform said religion to add carnal exaltation as a tenet

while doing this seduce every woman everywhere with seduction schemes. done.

What Dwarf said + be an independent empire-ranked player-character.

Carnal exaltation isn't important to the child limit, but it'll help for any age-difference fertility penalties you'll likely come across. I'm unsure if lovers count towards the child limit, or if it's just concubines/wives (in either case, you're still, probably, going to need to cheat as giving birth multiple times reduces fertility).

Is there a child limit?? Wait, now that I think about it, was there one in CK2??

Yeah, I don't know the exact numbers but the wiki says 9 (although, I'm not sure if that's completely right? The wiki doesn't tell you everything the code's doing and, what's worse, I've heard anecdotes get way higher---might just be something mods change a lot).

CK2 had a weird child system. I could be wrong, but I remember it was something based on like you and your courtier's children and there was a maximum number of children with parents in a given courtroom or something like that? There might've also been a soft fertility limit, but idk.

You could have a load of children in CK2 though.
Edit: found the wiki article[ck2.paradoxwikis.com]

So, not based on children, but just the general size of the court would slow you down.

There is a softcap at 14 LIVING children. Everytime I play polygamous, I hit 14 children in like 10 years, then nothing until one of them dies and then I can make another one. You can still have bastard as long as you can't claim them. That means sleeping with a women married to a title-land-owner, so he claims that child as his own.

My record was 23 children, with 14 of them living at any moment. If you don't mind killing them, take the trait that allows you to kill your own kids.

Nothing like seed your bastards around every court you come across -)

Child cap is 9 with one wife (if player's character is emperor/king, 7 if duke, 5 if count). There is also modifier with 50% chance that cap is reduced by 1.

Child cap with 4 wifes/concubines is 15 and there is same 50% chance to reduce it by 1.

How to get a lot of children? Don't hit cap with your wifes/wifes and every lover you have will keep getting monthly pregnancy checks and getting babies as long as they don't hit age of 46 or don't run out of fertility percentage (every child reduces women fertility by -5% and older age also reduces fertility of women).
Hitting child limit with your wife also stops all your lovers getting bastards (they still get
monthly pregnant checks but with their husbands (or other lovers they may have) but not with your character).

It is pretty easy to get something like 7 child's with your wife and 50-100 bastard child's with say 20 fertile lovers.

The size of the court is no longer affecting fertility in CK3? I learn things every day.

If you don't acknowledge the children you can have scores more. I leave my bastards as bastards unless they have some trait I want in the bloodline....
