I use the court for the Grandeur and the Artifacts. Sometimes I hold court just to do something. I prefer being a vassal and asking my liege for favors.

Some of the artefacts are meh, but some are really quite powerful...i especially like those giving generous amounts of dread and vassal opinion...makes ruling much less stressful.
Also the bonuses to lifestyle choices on some artefacts are really good, like +20% to say, stewardship, for example...3 of those and you'll burn through the lifestyle trees.

Wanted the 3d court stuff when it was announced. After trying it, I wish they left it to the imagination and improved on usual content.

I hold court. The fanfare music reminds me of Rocky & Bullwinkle. Court is repetitive and RNG (probably like the real thing), but if the worst thing that happens is you lose money, that's not so bad since money is the easiest thing to replace in this game. Sometimes you gain, though, like getting some free land or a concubine. Mostly, it's the fanfare music, though, that I like. Sometimes the courtiers glitch without clothes.

Yes, off cd but it is useless, the events there are 90% rubish sadly.

There's a future for you in politics kid

I hold court every time it pops up, some of the events are quite fun (my current ruler found his wife through a court event), and sometimes there are some good bonuses. And the "bad" events spice things up. I also utilize the court grandeur and amenities quite a bit. It's a good feeling being a king in Ireland/Scotland and having a court ranked higher than places like the HRE.

It's such a half-baked feature. The court should be used for much more than simply showcasing artifacts and sometimes holding court. Weddings, parties and many events should all be showcased within the court itself. Pet bears and lions should be visible in the court like was shown in the trailer, etc.
For example, imagine you're participating in a feast: While at the feast you could choose to interact with everyone attending it positively or negatively... You could embarrass your rival infront of the kingdom, try to amends or even stab them in the back when no one's paying attention(like the trailer showed). You could also try wooing that pretty new courtier, or perhaps trip them into the shackled Lion the King's showing off. The King's throne room showcases several artifacts, so you could try to nab one and hope the King doesn't notice, etc.

I totally agree the court is underused. I do hope in the future it gets added to for sure. If the court is really going to take off though they really have to roll Royal court into the base game which not that common, i could easily see them doing it down the road a bit in a few years.

OP, I have not played with it much, but i am enjoying the feature. (most of my time has been spent as a tribal duke level leader) But i really like seeing the people, changing who is there, collecting interesting court people.. (gotta have a giant guard! ) So far it's been interesting. It does need a lot of work over all though in the future.

Heck i'd even like to see small page style events happen in the court verse the mini window. Alone at night on the throne when your lover comes calling, or an attack on the king. See it play out would be so epic.

If they rolled Royal Court into the base game they would owe about a million people a refund. I don’t think that’s going to happen.

i like the court event where u can disinherit a child for free. where they argue about splitting lands up u can say which one gets the land. its nice if u have too many kids

I only hold court so I can rng the cultural acceptance event so I can create new cultures faster, there's no point doing it otherwise.
dbix11 Oct 23, 2022 @ 11:22am
its an rng induced event so its good to keep things interesting. It is funny that it has to be in court when compared to hunts or feasts. Its essentially the same thing - a series of dialogue and choices with trade offs.

WAY too many bad things happen holding court. So I rarely bother with it anymore. So very disappointed in the 3-D of the court as it is so zoomed out why bother!? Seems a waste of resources with what you are presented and how they don't really even use it in any imaginative or entertaining manner.

I hold court every time it pops up, yes there are a lot of bad events. But I take it as part of the story aspects and playing your ruler actually running his realm.
