Anybody else annoyed by all the random events that convert your religion?
granted most of them are stress related, however the events come at you so quickly that when youre fighting a war or something you're to busy to pay attention and adopt some silly religion. Like wtf, why?!? It seems like a dumb thing to add in the first place, like either have a way to turn them off or remove them from the game or something. Or make them cultural specific. Like I dont think an English king is going to adopt Paulician or some form of Judiasm. Its just silly.

The reason is because your character "Went Mad" by getting stress breaks. So your character converting to some bizarre religion is their way of dealing with their mental illness.

yes, however its still really silly. that would never happen in the real world. Especially in a world as bigoted as the middle ages.
I tend to put contention to death. Religion and political differences make or break the way a nation works. Once you change that foundation, the nation changes course. Just like the Muslim faith wants to kill all religions different. For a time, the tyrannical leaders made Christianity the same, for selfish purposes. Many are still killed today, due to religious beliefs. Christians are targeted, hunted and executed in many countries around the world today.

What Crusader Kings III does with this is a very real thing that happened in those times and that we face today. By attacking the foundation beliefs of a nation, you can disrupt and decay a nation. This weakens them and makes them more susceptible to being conquered or at least controlled. For most leaders, religion is a tool of control.

An additional note: Not including my opinions on the matter, just the facts at hand. These things are true regardless of what religion you prefer to follow in your life.

Not to mention Catholics to some random "heresy" or another.
Thing weren't quite as set in stone as one might imagine.

So this is what happens, from stress my king switches to another religion?

I was playing an Iberia king, he was Catholic and all of a sudden he was Paulicianism. I think last big even was him getting super stressed due to him demanding 50 gold from a hook on his new best friend.

Get too stressed and the character will have a mental break, you should get a popup decision with multiple options for handling the stress one option may be switching religions.

Another alternative is when a new heresy is created or a ruler somewhere converts you can receive a popup telling you about it with the option to convert yourself or denounce them as a dirty heathen or whatever.

This is why it's important to pay attention to decisions and not just randomly click to get rid of the box.

Yeah I think I might of seen the decision. You are right about checking decisions. Sometimes when they popup at the wrong time, like when I am at war, I tend to click and not read much.
