Crusader Kings III

Just have the decency to dissolve me in acid at least
Like three seconds after I create my sultanate (again) every stupid vassal (and even the smart ones) will go on the barricades and immediately form a dissolution faction, without fail.

And since I'm a dork, they succeed every time.

And since even with 28 intrigue I seemingly can't manage to murder as much as a stable boy, I can't ever reduce my vassals down to kids that at least behave...

Me and this game isn't meant to be, is it?

I am all for life imprisonment. It's only that I take the liberty to determine the length of "life". :cqdamage:
The head of Emir Badis of the Idrisid Emirate came off today. Total accident, I swear. Turns out those sickles are really sharp. (sucks blood on a cut on his finger)

I also found it in my best interest to release one of the sheikhs, who is a useful muppet. The others can rot in the dungeon as long as they like to cling on to life. Since Emir Abdul-Madjid of the Madjid Emirate is old and infirm, and Sheikh Youkhanna of Agadir is a loon, and Sheikh Georgios of Tinmallal is a leper, in some cases that won't be long.

But I need to keep control as long as is feasible. A couple of generations of instituional fratricide and so far a lack of sons have left me with a dense cousin once removed as heir. Gotta spawn a few boys quickly now...!
Well.

The sheikh in question had all of 5 intrigue, btw.

Danyal, after recovering from that ghastly slash across his face, ordered him imprisoned, he rose in rebellion, but was captured in battle, then soon reduced in size by a head's length.

The whole experience has made Danyal callous and wrathful, and we're sure he'll be totally adored and beloved by everybody in the sultanate when (if) he grows up to be a big boy.

Intrigue's just not for me, I guess.

Seduce your wives all day, every day.

Use your kids to secure alliances with powerful vassals and foreign powers that could help you win a war with them.

Then you'll have to deal with sucession, the easy/cheesy way is to just disinherit all the other sons, or get them killed, but you can also conquer a lot of lands instead and give them to your other sons so they will leave your heir's lands alone when you die.

Allied vassals can't rebel, so get allying. Polygamous religions are effectively easy mode for realm management, since you can uphold 4 alliances just with your character, not to mention the army of children that you'll have to marry off for even more alliances.

And if 20 free alliances still isn't enough to manage your vassals, you can always promote some of them to dukes. Indirect vassals (vassals of your vassals) can't rebel against you, so heavy delegation is another key pillar of good realm management.

And isn't it funny how the arabic/muslim world of that time period was nonetheless involved in an almost constant civil war?

What if I told you that nothing has changed between the medieval era and today?

This is power. Humans will do anything to get it and keep it. The same crap is going on now as it was back then.

Ahhhh....

Don't give up. Just be EEEEEEVIL !! As mean, rotten and perverted as you can possibly be.

Many might/will disagree but until you really get a grip on the game the best way to survive is to be the most evil basta.rd you can be.

Worked for me except for one thing. I cannot play an evil character for long. After 3 or 4 hours of it the better part of me starts to kick in and before I know it I'm right back to being a good guy and getting my a.ss kicked. In CK3 it has been my experience that yes, good guys do finish last.

Pretty sure that playing as a good guy doesn't mean the player is gonna always get beaten down - just means I have yet to figure out how to do it successfully. It does sadden me though that playing evil does make the game a lot easier to survive.

YMMV.
Youre right that being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is a great way to keep your ♥♥♥♥ together but to truly make the best of your vassals and have an prosperous empire I find diplomacy to work the best and you can groom your heirs to be good rulers with good traits quite consistantly.

In the end it is all very situational and there is no one way to deal with any set of problems.
Sultan Danyal has annexed Zammour and Tlemcen, and the Maghrebis have a foothold in Iberia, too. Some selective stabby-stabby has left Danyal with mostly content vassals, and there has not been a serious threat of rebellion in decades. The economy is good, and his glory is widely known.

I can't help but think that something bad will happen soon.
