Why can you switch characters?

I am completely new to Crusader Kings but after a few videos I was hooked and I regret that I didn't try it earlier.

But I was wondering why can I change to all characters mid-game? Wouldn't it possible to cheat, just mess with enemy kings and then conquer them for easy win?

Maybe my way of thinking is just wrong here, is this more mean't for Multiplayer or because the world is mean't to be your playground, do whatever you want to do and have fun?

It's a sandbox game set in Medieval Times, with the primary objective to have fun!

Some people LOVE CK3 for the power fantasy whereas others absolutely DREAD that you can be near godlike with power.

Play on Ironman mode and you won't be able to.

It's definitely a "cheat" in my opinion. But if you're playing single player it's all good. It's like some games let you put in cheat codes or switch the difficulty setting for the boss fight.

its so you can switch things up if you get bored. Is your empire to big and powerful that it is no longer a challenge? Play as a forgotten bastard of your dynasty and try to claim the empire you've built.

I don't change my characters during games, never did it. When I start my game, I want to play (and win) it with my own dynasty. Playing other dynasties, it would lose reality and context, such game wouldn't be fun anymore, at least for me.

A very fun of way of playing is picking a random ruler after the one you have played as dies.

not really any point in using it as a cheat since the game is crazy easy anyway if your goal is simply painting the map

just play iron man mode
