Yea. Allegedly the Irminsul was located in Marsberg near Paderborn.
This was all lore of the Saxon world. Irminsul was not connected to Asatru in anyway, and Charlemagnes campaign was European. There is not a shred of data to insinuate otherwise, it goes against known history, theology, and archaeology.
Wrong.
The franks themselves report it in the Annales regni Francorum, which were created during the time of charlemagne.
Also other contemporary sources mention it, like the monk Rudolf of Fulda.
The word Asatru btw is a modern day creation and just refers to germanic paganism in a broader sense.
And since the saxons were germanic pagans during the time of charlemagne, the irminsul was very much connected to "Asatru".
Saxony is in europe....
Bruh.. It's just absence of data in your brain
There was - not entirely sure when they moved it or why as "Lejre" on SJælland certainly used to be a holy site. They also moved the one in "Zeeland" for some reason. I suppose they wanted to spread them out a bit more to make it more difficult to reform the religion. Historically the new sites don't make much sense other than that "there was a viking presence at the time".
