Why are crusades still broken?
there's no grouping up, and the crusader AI just dives into 18,000-strong doomstacks despite having barely 4000 men. The local forces 9/10 times just mop up a bunch of tiny, disparate armies winning in 2 years or less because they are properly coded and consolidate into a massive doomstack before the pope can even land his forces.

Redirect the wars towards Iberia early on. It’s much easier to conquer and the more you conquer it snowballs to being easier.

Or you can just build your country to where you can solo a crusade.

Culture matters.

probably because at some point they will do a crusader kingdoms/outremer flavour pack/dlc. I wouldnt bet on seeing any crusade fixes/ai updates until then. in the case of that not happening, it will be one of those things that never gets fixed.

probably because that would mean making the big bad white nationalists that are hiding around every corner ready to snatch up your children happy because it would mean nerfing the muslims. paradox wont risk that. they are swedish after all

I don't think the Muslims need a nerf to fix Crusades, Crusades just need a buff. A bunch of them were fought not by established mercenary companies, or a king's retinue, but by simple peasants seeking atonement. I mean, heck, there's a whole category on Wikipedia devoted to Popular, unorganized Crusades (link[en.wikipedia.org]).

Maybe give the Crusades stages where at first a few peasant special troops arrive, and then by the end, depending on funding/success/whatever, you can have a ball of raving peasants roving the holy land as God intended. Slap on a debuff to provinces if peasant stacks get to high and bob's you're uncle.

There's probably a better, more historically accurate, way to do a crusade. But as they are now they're just too floaty with no real power behind the crusaders (unless you make yourself the deciding factor). Of course, some people will probably say "most Crusades failed so they should be under-powered" and those people don't know how to have fun,
