Stuck on odd map screen and cant return to normal view

I was viewing a potential land grab, so i looked at the duke of this province...and on his menu , right at the top, it said something like 'view war' or 'war view'...cant be totally sure tho.
As i'd never seen this option in 1500+ hrs, i clicked it and then the map changes to this below, with no colours of territories and i cant change it back.
The news drop down is gone, and the pane on the right of the screen is gone.

Any help gratefully received.

Do none of the keyboard shortcuts for changing map view work, pressing E for Realms view for example.

Pressing E does nothing....i hear a click but the screen doesn't change
I can bring up some items in the right pane by clicking on the army size and domain size (top right of screen), and can briefly show kingdoms and empires...but as soon as i close them, we go back to the screen shown in post #1.
I'm stumped and can't progress the game properly...if i unpause time, the time will pass and nothing will happen as i have no dropdown for messages.
Just in case anyone mentions this...this is ironman with no mods.

Have you tried to verify game files on steam properties?

A fresh reinstall would solve as well.

Crazy thing is...this all came about from an in game option

OK...i did 'control alt delete' to exit ck3, so that the 'current' crappy incident didn't save on game exit, then restarted ck3 with previous autosave and everything is back to normal.
I've just lost about a month's game time...which is nothing really.
Phew...weird problem kinda sorted
