Absolute crown authority. Is it worth it?
Hi guys. Is the absolute crown authority worth it? It gives instant -30 opinion penalty of my vassals and it looks like once I switched to that authority, I have civil wars very often. So is it worth it?

If you're trying to reform yourself into a Republic or Feudal from a Tribal stage then yeah.
If I'm right higher authority forces your vassals to cease their wars, so you won't have a count, duke or king consolidating within your boarders. It might also increase taxes/levies too at the High mark.

A few reasons to upgrade it, mostly to restrict vassal powers and their ability to wage war within the realm and without.

the heir designation that comes witzh it is kinda nice. i'd say that's the main reason to implement the law.

iirc you already get the realm peace at high authority, so you don't really need to upgrade to absolute to prevent vassal wars.

the higher vassal obligations are probably not worth the opinion hit, but if your domain / private mat at arms army is strong enough to keep the vassals in check despite the lowered opinion, it's a good way of getting the most out of your lands.

I don't think I've ever used Absolute crown authority, and currently my empire spans most of the known world. the reason for that, is because my vassals have warred outside my realm endlessly, winning and taking land for themselves without me having to lift a finger. This is all on High crown authority. As long as they can't fight each other, I really don't mind them fighting others that don't bend the knee to me

I haven't declared a personal war in like 150 in game years or more.

Ok guys, that makes sense. I will switch back to high autority from absolute. But most of you have mentioned internal vassals war. Why is it bad? If they dont bother me, why should I care?

The problem, generally, is that vassals growing inside the realm are gaining power for themselves without any benefit to you, in fact the in-fighting tends to weaken the realm itself and make it more vulnerable to external threats.

Plus, it tends to result in ugly internal borders, if you care about that :)

External wars are better because, the vassal is gaining power, but so are you. And you could even help them, if you want to and have an alliance.
