Raising smaller armies
There must be a better way to raise smaller armies...

My realm is starting to get rather large and if I need to have armies on opposite sides of my kingdom/empire, it is a mess of micromanaging and trying to get these men at arms there and these here and keeping some levies held back for that group.

Am I missing some obvious mechanic that can make my time spent in a large realm more about managing a realm rather than setting up my armies fora couple of hours to put down a rebellion? :steamfacepalm:

Yeah, I miss "Raise county levies" button too.

What I tend to do is just use my Men-at-Arms for every little thing, make them into a single deadly unit.

It's particularly good if you have the Sappers perk from Strategist tree.

But other than that, if I want to raise some levies, I just raise them all and press "stop gathering" once there's enough.

Downside is, you can't really do this in two places at the same time, and you can't really split men-at-arms before they're already raised.

I thought this too. I was being raided and thought I might just take a few counties' levies to squash them. Couldn't see how to do it. Presumably there is a way as it would be a huge oversight not to allow this.

As an army is raising you can select it an press stop raising when you think you have enough troops.

Use rally points. I have one for each direction: North, West, South and East. That way you raise local troops which is faster and smaller in size. While the local armies might still be huge they are smaller than if you were to raise them all. The more rally points you have the smaller the local armies are. It's not the perfect solution but it is something.

Hold the Control-key when raising armies to raise them all in one province. They won't be split based on supply when you raise them :)
