Wow the 'end' is so anticlimax
Not really ranting or anything just a bit disappointed. Been playing for 4 days straight just to have the game the END on my face in 1453 when my ruler was like... 9 lol, here take your the end screen and no empires for you or anything, just be a king, well, i had my fun while it lasted...

These games have always been like that. It's not the Goal it's the journey that makes these games great.

The problem is the game gets boring about 200 years after you start, by this time you can easily become emperor/pope of your own faith with genius/herculean/beautiful children and then it's a drag until 1453.

400-600 years of boredom makes the journey itself not even enjoyable.

Next you're going to say the Sims gets boring after you get max job and enough money to buy anything you want.

I wish there was a better end screen. A bit like a previous Civ game (can't remember if it was 3 or 4) where you had some conquests displayed over a time graph and the areas you conquered over the map. Major wars, etcetera. A chronicle of sorts.

I do like the lineage line, but it would be nice if the game didn't end so abruptly because you might like to view the Dynasty tree and other elements without the game over screen being a pain. It just feels like they didn't even bother to make the game ending a thing. You get these dancing notifications that will whittle on almost indefinitely.

It would be fun if you were kicked out of all of your holdings to be leaving a city with what little belongings you are allowed to take in peasant clothing. Or if you died in battle, laying dead/dying on the battlefield with your standard in your hand. Or if a Viking, being sent out on the longboat with the archers poised to fire the burning arrows to send you to Valhalla. Or if having a massive Empire, being on the balcony of your palace with your loved ones nearby with a smug face. Perhaps the scope is too big for that.

Not many make it as far as end of an era. I had the annoyance of the achievement not working so I had to go through the balls of it again after they had patched it. It took them ages to patch it too. It really isn't a major focus but I think that kind of polish would be appreciated.

There you go. Everytime you win or lose, just play this video and you'll get what you want.

Hence. you use the CK3 to EU4 converter and continue on there.

You can convert your save to Europa Universalis IV and continue there. You can convert EU4 to Victoria 2. You can convert V2 to Hearts of Iron IV. You can play a campaign from the 9th century to the end of World War II.

Stellaris doesn't need a converter. You start with total control of your starting world and you customize your personal empire before the game begins

To be fair, as long as you arent extremely slow or a roleplayer, converting your savefiles into a new game doesnt really do anything good for you.

Much like EU4, the actual challenge in CK3 is about getting to the point of being overpowered and not being overpowered, because if you are the greatest power without an actual threatening enemy, then the game becomes boring. Same problem has EU4 too. A campaign starts in 1444 and can potentially go to 1821, but the vast majority of players stop their campaign in around 1600, because there isnt just any challenge left in the game unless you want to force yourself through the actual slog of World Conquest.

Its quite ironic that the "toughest" challenge in the game has very little to do with skill but rather with the willpower to finish it. Anyway, playing CK3 to a point of being an overpowered empire just to continue with the same empire in EU4 would mean no challenge at all and that should be far more boring.

Be careful what you wish for. People complained about the same thing in Total War games and now with every release they add some wacky cheat for the AI to make the game artificially hard. Supply lines, over the top scripted "invasions", massive bonuses to the AI, etc., all just punishments or artificial limitations placed on the player.

The refreshing thing about coming to Paradox was specifically that they DON'T have foolishness like that in their games. This allows you to do whatever you please.

I don't think it's like that mate. It's not really artificially hard because total war games don't approximate the entire world properly. Every single total war is anything but total as a consequence. Can't have a mongol invasion (ala history) in total war without scripts. It's not artificial as a consequence.

Artificial is pure cheating - i.e. difficulty levels.

This game is amazing, but the barebones nature of what they delivered us ensures late game boredom. As mods and DLC develops this will either be mitigated or exacerbated. I hope they mitigate it some... even if the true pleasure in games like this is never the ending.
