How do you ascertain the value of a barony or county?
As I'm considering which neighbor to attack next, I'm trying to figure out which piece of land has more inherent value? I checked the faction screen and looked at $$$ and prestige per month, but that is heavily dependent on the leader's traits. Playing as a tribe, by the way.

How do you discern this? I saw a video of someone playing in Africa and targeting specific territories because they have gold mines, but I have no idea how you figure this out from the UI. Thanks.

More land controlled directly or via vassals > less land

The wiki does have a County [ck3.paradoxwikis.com] list as well as Duchy list on a different page.
Both of which show if there are special building slots. So that would give you an idea of what places have something of note.

The Duchy list also gives ides of good duchies, for example the duchy of Bohemia, which contains 8 counties, 35 Baronies.

Okay, so aside from special buildings, they are all equal. I assumed there was a mechanism in place to account for certain regions being more fertile than others or simple more valuable, but I guess that's not a part of the calculation.

That really effects development, which runs from 0-100. Each point adds 0.5% taxes and levies. Though development does not effect tribal.

The terrain does effect how easy it is to develop land, with flood plains, farmland and Oasis being the easiest. Additionally buildings, steward missions, lifestyle stuff and just being near highly developed land effect the growth.

Note that it gets harder for the Increase Development in Country steward task as you get closer to the development cap for a country. That cap can be increased via tech though.

There is more in the wiki development [ck3.paradoxwikis.com]

Also keep in mind any land you take via hostility will likely have low control. So you will have to spend time using your martial to increase control again.

Yeah, I'm dealing with the control issue right now. Had to restart and slow down expansion. Thanks for the info. I see that once I start playing Feudal countries all those elements will become important. Thanks!

More land = better.

Unique landmarks = best, look for them.

Constantinople alone, when fully developed, will grant you more money than an entire empire the size of europe if you're running ♥♥♥♥♥♥ feudal contracts (less if you're using OP tribes or clans)

Tbh going for constantinople is kind of a meme, because once you take it, the byzantines have no power, and now you do, and nothing in the world can stop you.
