North Sea Empire and Empire titles

So the decision to form the North Sea Empire requires you not to hold an Empire title.

In my current playthrough, My 6th ruler of the Kingdom of Mann and the Isles formed the Empire of Britannia. I decided to go with it mostly as precautionary measure to keep all the king level titles in the british Isles under an empire title to keep Partition from splitting my realm since I currently hold the Kingdoms of England, Wales, Ireland and Cornwall.

I have Partition thanks to unlocking the tech so I don't have to worry about new titles being formed when my king dies. But once I bring the last bits of Scotland under my control. I'll need a new project for my Norse Asatru dynasty.

Assuming I destroy the title of the Empire of Britannia Does the decision to form the North Sea Empire become available again as long as I hold the titles of England, Norway and Danemark for 30 years and I don't reach past early medieval?

The reason I'm asking this is because I have Partition now, and assuming it works how I understand it. As long as I don't have fired up any other empire titles, even if I hold everything to form Britannia again it should not get formed again when the king holding those dies.

and the bonuses from forming the North Sea Empire are cool and from a story and role-playing perspective. I think the next step once I've assumed total control of the British Isles is for my dynasty to look back at Scandinavia and bring some order to the mess happening up there. Plus eventually reforming Asatru would be a pretty sweet event story wise.

And given that practiced pirates would allow me to keep raiding even if I reform my religion. I'm think all this together might be a good direction to look to once the last bits of Scotland fall.

You can not destroy your primary title, as far as I know. And your primary title is always of the highest level you have. So basically, once an emperor, always an emperor. You would have to get rid of your emperor titles (which would require someone else taking over enough of the territory to usurp the titles from you).

That's unfortunate. I not competent enough as player to risk handing over an empire title to a character I'm not playing. I wanted to have the Sea-King epiteth and while most of my realm is Feudal, this seemed like an interesting way to turn feudal the last counties held by vassals in Ireland and Scotland that were still tribal.

Ah well, looks like Britannia will be the ones to sort out that mess in Scandinavia

isn't there a game rule that destroys Emp titles if holder don't hold the de jure land ? I'm not sure how it works exactly but it may be worth looking into ?

I don't think you can alter rules mid game, can you?

You could add an election law to your emperor level title and make sure it goes to someone else. I guess that would work. Then you would have to get independence and whittle down the emperor until the title is destroyed. I am trying to go down from mighty Emperor back to count level and this is the approach I will try.

Not going to risk that. I'm just not competent enough to pulls something like that off without a hitch. I'll just keep going as Emperor of Britannia and work my way up to total control of Scandinavia from there.
