"Tyranny" wars have nothing to do with the opinion modifier of the same name. A tyranny war is when a liege forces something on a vassal, like imprisonment, but the vassal refuses. In my experience, it's usually caused by an attempted title revocation.

I think tyranny wars are usually to lower your authority level, but I could be mistaken. It's not so much linked to the actual tyranny stat/effect, but just the name of the war. Essentially, some of the vassals want lower tribal/crown authority so that they can be more autonomous. And while high opinion of a leige helps mitigate vassals initiating or joining these types of factions, it doesn't always outright stop them. Strong hooks, friendship, and alliances are the only guaranteed ways to prevent such things.

This is also the case. I forgot they used the same term for those wars. The leige likely could have attempted to revoke a county title in order to either claim it for themselves or grant it to its de jure duchy holder. The AI will sometimes attempt to sort out de jure titles under them.

It needs looking at imo, at the start of the game every single liege that is below his holding limit within about 3 months of the game starting will start revoking vassals starting tyranny wars and half the time getting his ass kicked and losing his title.

The duke of bohemia is the stupiest, he will revoke everyone he can including his heir, but because hes feudal cannot even hold the titles so gives them away to start again, until he gets his ass kicked which wont take long.

The AI just can't handle realms well. That's why the game is so easy. There is no higher level thinking. Just "Oh, I'm over domain limit 12/10. Better give away FIVE counties!" or "Oh, I am below domain limit, better revoke someone on the other side of the realm instead of a baron in my capital duchy." and similar idiocies. You see how those two in conjunction cause problems.

Tyranny is 90% when the liege tries to take away county/duchy from vassal.
