How do concubines work now?
Started a Wales run, and the Welsh have the Concubines tradition, but it seems like, being Catholic, and from reading the tool tips in the gender laws, it's kind of meaningless unless I change religions. But then, I suddenly noticed a warning that I was under the concubine limit, and sure enough, I can select a concubine. Haven't done it, yet. Trying to work through in my head what all the implications are going to be (probably a mad spouse, a concubine that wants to murder me, and upset clergy).

Cultural marriage rules trump religious rules, so as long as you remain Welsh, you will always have access to 1 spouse and 3 concubines. That means you are barred from monogomy and polygamy, regardless of your faith.

Thanks. I wonder what all the side effects will be if I take one. Still being Rodri, I don't feel the need to test it right now, but when his son takes over, maybe.

The side effect is splitting your realm 10 different ways among all of your children when you die.
Why are people talking about Porcupines? They are prickly and should not be in this game.

I am about to add polygamy to my culture, will add concubines later and see what happens lol here's hoping for 4 wives and 3 concubines.

Ok so for the above, if you add any one of the three romance options to your culture, it overwrites the faith based option. So for me: my polygamy finally went through in culture and I had concubines as my faith, polygamy took over because it was culture based, and I could not add concubines to culture with polygamy now active, I could only replace. Hope that helps anyone else that is curious about how this works now.
