Will my old save work fine if I buy Royal Court?
My old save is working fine after the patch but I don't own Royal Court and don't want to get it full price if its going to ruin my current run.
Is there anyone who has been able to continue their save from before patch with the new DLC?

Edit: Could any of you guys who owns the DLC load a MANUAL save of your old version games and see how things work? I would be grateful, thanks in advance!

Actually, mine is working fine from an old save with the Royal Court. All of the old mods don't work, had to turn them all off after my first load because all of my Norman courtiers were wearing Indian garb and Islamic head wear. Also, all the Gold, Prestige, Piety from cheats were still in play as well.

You can try but I doubt it work.
It sounds like it breaks them and makes it so everyone is dying.
I would err on the side of caution and finish your current save first if you really care about continuing it, and pick up the DLC if you want it when you're ready to start a new dynasty
Hello,

I just loaded the game for the first time, and i have not pressed play yet but suddenly i have no prestige, no piety, no renown and my previously healthy 26 year old king is now on deaths door.

Actually this is true for every single character on the map. How strange.
I had the exact same issue (Everybody dying) but only if I loaded an autosave of my old game. I loaded a manual save and my game has been working fine. But I don't own the DLC and I'm wondering if it will work like it is doing now if I buy the DLC.

Well its much less work for the devs if it becomes accepted practice that they dont have to make anything backwards compatible so unfortunately, with just about any version change your best bet will be to start a new game if u want to play that version

It's not that strange. They revamped entire systems and said old saves would not be compatible. My undetis that this also isn't uncommon for the CK series of games.
Same exact thing is happening with me. Existing saves do not appear to be compatible even with the free update. I have the new DLC, but I turned it off before I started the game thinking/hoping my current save (ca. 1410) would not be affected....WRONG. I started the game but quickly realized that something was very wrong. I quit the game, but because I was playing in Iron Man mode, it auto saved. I loaded an older version of the game, but because it auto saved within the new version, the file was not compatible with the older version....so I'm screwed and this save it hosed. I wish they would have programmed the update to prevent it from loaded an incompatible save file. Oh well, if this is the worse thing that happens to me today, I've had a pretty good day. But still.....

The whole reason it even happens is because with paradox games, they don't just add new content in updates, the rework preexisting content, which breaks save game compatibility.
i am sure they won't and i think the old flies won't work even after you disable the DLC without touching the files with the DLC.i just refunded the DLC and played my old files and game just went nuts, every character was on the stage of death and my armies got heavy attrition. put the game on 5 speed as i was in a middle of a war and every two second some random character died and ended my campaign in 2 min, wtf.
and for some reason i had the culture rework on my file without playing the DLC with said file even after disabling and refunding it the DLC.

The culture rework is part of the free 1.5 update, however the ability to diverge, reform, and hybridize it is part of the DLC.
Yes, even if you don't buy the DLC...they mess up the game.
Without Sawed Play Sands, Paradox has no fun.

This is your answer
No offence but most replies here don't seem to have read my original post lol. I even repeated what I said in it a few posts later. My old save works fine without the DLC, Even with the new update installed.
Yet the majority of the posts here are just saying that the game will break after the update even without the DLC and everybody's characters are dying. But thats not happening for me when I load a manual save. Everything is working fine. So now the only question that I have is whether my game will get ruined if I buy the DLC, thats what I'm asking.

Could any of you guys who owns the DLC load a manual save of your old version games and see how things work? I would be grateful, thanks in advance!
