Why should you save coats of arms?
Hail to you glorious rulers and friends of CK 3!

Can someone tell me why you should save coat of arms, if you can only save them as a screenshot and not load again in the game to use them?
With respect the screenshot does not really seem to be useful or am I missing some important detail?

You can use em, that's the whole point of the creator, no?

Or did I completely misunderstand your question?

Perhaps I have formulated my concern a little awkwardly sorry.
According to the game, when saving the coat of arms, a screenshot is saved to CK 3 directory. My question is how I can load the saved screenshot of the coat of arms again to use it for example in another playthroughs of CK3 ?

^ I second this. I spent a fair while making my own CoA before saving it, but I have no clue how to load my own flag from yesterday.

Honestly, not being able to "properly" save my CoA so i'm not spending an hour each time I want to make something remotely interesting is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. I literally see no point in making CoAs if you can't SAVE them and RE-USE them. That's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disappointing.

You can save and reuse them, there is a button within the COA designer to copy the COA, and in the first menu of the COA designer where you choose between fully custom, or based on an existing COA there is a button to paste the COA you copied.

I had that same issue. There is no 'copy from COA saved to disk' or I missed it. I saw 'copy this one to clipboard' and where to paste that one. I did not find a 'copy one from the disk'

There isn't one. You just need to save the stuff you copied into your clipboard and save it into a text file somewhere.

You can copy and paste the ones you made on the day, but if I was to restart the game or do anything else, I can not go to my "Save to disk" and copy the image and paste it in. Unless you literally copy the template and save it somewhere else, eg, this:

You are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Unless i'm missing something, sure, it has a lot of flexibility, but not being able to save the flags you make in game and having to do workarounds suck.

Yes, you need to copy the template, just like how you need to copy the DNA for characters, in both instances you need to save it as a text file on your computer, and when you want to use it you need to open it up and copy the contents of the file and click the relevant paste button to use it in another game.

Copying the COA from the COA designer isn't a workaround, it is the intended way of saving it for later.

Saving to disk literally just takes a screenshot of the emblem, that's it, it's not designed for you to be able to use that screenshot later, you need to copy the design to your clipboard and save it, and then paste from clipboard when you want to use it later.

That's pain. Well, in the future I know to save the massive snip. Thanks anyhow

OK, first post ever so here goes, If you want to re-use a coat of arms you have previously designed then here is how you do it:
1) Load the save game where you have the previously designed coat of arms.
2) Click on your character portrait (lower left).
3) Click on your House (the existing coat of arms).
4) At the top of the page next to your House name, click on the feather (Customize House).
5) At the bottom right click on 'Copy to Clipboard'.
6) Escape out and exit to the main menu.
7) Load an existing game, repeat steps 2 - 4 and then click on 'Paste from Clipboard'.
- or -
8) Begin a new game and when you customize your ruler you can customize your dynasty and 'Paste from Clipboard'.

Done.
