Do Vassals build their own buildings / constructions ?
Do Vassals build their own buildings / constructions ?
Or do I need to go through it and do it for them, so far I only built in my own direct region.

I think they do

They can indeed build in their own holdings. However they might also spend the money on Men-at-Arms, bribing people to join an assassination plot or just hoard it in case they need to hire mercenaries.
In general they can be left to build and it will be fine, but if you really feel like going insane you can try and micro everything to make sure every holding has the buildings you want it to have.
This is one of the reasons why having more powerful vassals can be advantageous than having numerous smaller ones. The more land they have = the more money they'll get to spend on buildings.
Yes, they are AI controlled. You can also build for them.

I do find for some vassals (cities) it may make sense to build a couple things to get the ball rolling. Mainly guild halls or any other buildings that increase development growth

Yes, this was my idea behind it.

They certainly do build up their own domain, they also build new holdings if possible, but only if they have nothing else to spend it on and have alot of money. I usually don't spend money on vassal holdings, the return of investment is very low since you only get a small part of the levies or taxes. The exception to this rule is already mentioned, to kick start newly build holdings, mainly cities with a guild hall and trade port, but rarely beyond level 1.

When i have loads of cash lying around I rather spend my money on building extra holdings for my vassals, since they won't build them unless they are swimming in cash, which is rarely the case.

Just remember that building for your vassals will make them stronger and this can bite you in the ass if you aren't careful.

This mod fixes the problem of AI constructing not properly. It changes AI's "desire" value to develop and build much more wich brings much better economic growth:

I recommend building at least the first economic buildings for your vassals, after that they pretty much build the rest.

I read somewhere that they tend to forget to build trade ports. So if you're going to build something for them, trade ports would probably be a good choice (hells even if they would normally build it for themselves it would STILL be a good choice!)
