"From The Ashes" Achievement?

Does this have some hidden criteria, or was I just unlucky with a bug? I started as the Italian Duke of Spoleto, became King of Italy then Emperor of Italia, then restored the Roman Empire, but didn't get the achievement. I unlocked a couple others on this playthrough so the game settings are fine. I'm wondering if I somehow bugged it by mending the Great Schism right before restoring the Empire. Anybody else failed to get this one?

Maybe you need to start as a count? CK2 had a similar one. Start in a shattered world and become and emperor. Which was starting off as a count.

This is the achievement specifically for restoring the Roman Empire rather than just any old empire, but it turns out just closing the game and restarting it made it trigger so I got it in the end, lol.

That's not uncommon with the achievements.

Same here, I restored the empire but didn't get the achievement. I made sure my game rules allow achievements, have gotten a couple other achievements in this playthrough, but quitting and reloading the save won't trigger the Rise from the Ashes achievement for me. Started from a count in Italy, conquered Italy and north Africa, left Byzantine alone, and was able to use the Restore Roman Empire decision once I got to 120 properties in my Realm. Not sure why it won't trigger! That was a lot of late nights
