Is there a way to make a new Christian faith and be considered astray?
I know Insular is considered astray, is that unique to them or is there some way to go about this?

It is something to do with the faith doctrine, i'm not sure myself.

this https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/ikvhyr/question_about_ecumenism/ and this https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/Faith might help

The only way to get ecumenism as a new faith is to take over all the Christian holly sights and trigger a special event that will make your faith the only ecumenical Christianity. At this point it's mostly useless, because other Christians are still going to be hostile, but at least now they are going to be hostile to eachother too. also you're going to be so powerful that you probably shouldn't care.

If you are not playing ironman, you can add doctrines to your faith with the cheat console

I know this is an old discussion, but in case someone else searches for the answer and finds this:

Ecumenism (which makes new Christian faiths be considered Astray instead of Hostile) can be added through the "Rite" tenet. This, however, comes with a few downsides, the largest of which is having a spiritual Head of Faith instead of a temporal one.

Note, that Rite doesn't give you Ecumenism , it only preserves it if the faith that your basing the new one on (your previous faith) already has it, and you can only take Rite if your previous faith has a Spiritual Head of Faith.
