Ruler Designer copy-paste all
First of all - the game is great and extremely addictive. I'm new to Crusader Kings and some other old geezer probably said that before, but it's like the love child of the sims and good 'ole Defender of The Crown, both quite addictive in their own right. This specific lovechild comes with a huge map and more complex and varied gameplay. Love it. Love the historical details. Love the everyday life anecdotes. Love the music and art.

However, I do have a complaint. Sorry. I realize that the ruler designer is a relatively new perk, but It's incredibly frustrating that the designer only has an option to copy paste DNA (looks) rather than the entire form. I'm restarting a game in Ironman mode again and again due to getting an unwanted childhood trait (also annoying) and I just need to refill the designer form every. damn. time with the same options.

It would have been even better to be able to save an entire game setup (starting year, rules and custom rulers included) and load it in a single click. As long as so many important game decisions are given to a random roll and with no possible saves in Ironman mode, it seems considerate to at least enable a quick do over.

Maybe someone here knows a mod that fixes this issue? And works in Ironman mode? I did not find any on my own.

Also annoying in the designer - why do I have to draw a random coat of arm instead of drawing one myself from existing components? Or even upload a custom file?

I know I can start at age 3 and pick the childhood trait myself, I just want to ensure right ward availability so I need these three years... And anyway, even without the childhood trait issue the "copy-paste all" option is really needed.

Also, the paste DNA seems to fail quite often (if not used in previous game).

the paste dna is saved just like when you copy / paste text or whatever.. it goes to your clipboard. If you copy something else, restart the pc etc.. it's gone. You might be able to past your contents of your clipboard to a file and next time you start your pc or something just open that file and copy it, then you should be able to past it.
Not sure what I'd do specifically with the designer for ironman, but if you saved out of ironman a setup you could load that continually as a save game. Perhaps if there was a way to make a save and then click the ironman and have it check that you didn't change any settings to go beyond ironman. ?

Huh? I don't understand your save suggestion. I can't have more than one saved game in Ironman mode and it's always the latest (which renders it pretty useless as far as saved game goes). As soon as I go beyond blunder point (i.e. the wrong childhood trait drawn), I have to start a new game in order to correct it. You can't switch off Ironman mode in game.

yeah it really needs to be able to paste the whole custom ruler build not just he appearance.

i wasted so much time remaking builds testing things

Can someone remove the ruler designer ad from my launch screen? It's destroying the game experience. I dont want to see that ugly idiot every time I launch the game. That crap only appeals to game designers. Every player is not a damn wanna-be game designer!

Take that crap off the launcher!

If and when you don't need to tweak mods or whatever you can launch the game and then pin the game to your taskbar so you have a direct line to launch the game. It skips the launcher.

I'm hoping, really hoping, they give us COA creation soon.

So the fictional guy on the cover of the game is okay, and the fictional guy who's stated to be the grandson of William the Conqueror is okay, but the fictional guy advertising ruler designer is no okay. I'm confused.

I think I've found an unintended exploit in the ruler designer. Probably wasn't the first one to discover it, but.. here goes.
A baby ruler (age 0) allows you to allocate all ruler points to congenital traits and zero points to skills. Your baby evolves normally, gain skill points from education and pretty much ignores the preset limits. If you start with an adult ruler (the default) you have to allocate many ruler points to skills in order to have semi-capable ruler. With a baby, you can have a beautiful-herculean-quick ruler with decent stats (as adult) to kickstart your dynasty. In Ironman mode. :)

Intriguing! The only worry is that you can't make siblings via ruler designer, meaning you're VERY vulnerable at the start. Anyone with a claim of any kind can press it for 16 years without issue, and if anyone in your court hates you enough to take you out, it's game over.
sbudy Mar 1, 2021 @ 9:17am
That's right. These sixteen years are a bitc*. I always choose a remote corner of the map though (i.e., Iceland), so it's not so much claims from serious powers I have to worry about but raids.
Another possible exploit is that if you specifically choose 867 Vestrland (west Iceland) as a starting domain for your designed ruler the original ruler (Audr the deep minded), sometimes hangs around and can be recruited to your court (I don't know if it happens in other domains or just Vestrland). Audr is a quick and thus (usually) an awesome guardian for your baby ruler. She may attract even better guardian or a strong council member to your court as a spouse (she's a widow). She usually leaves your court on her own after a certain point, even if she's a council member (really annoying) but she still functions as a guardian, and her badass spouse remains with you...

I think there are very few original baby rulers on 867 and 1066, and if you play your cards right baby rarely inherits (?), so a baby designer ruler is one of the few options to experience child interactions, which are generally pretty cute.
