I'm stuck in a never-ending war
So one of my idiot allies called me to help defend his territory in a war. Fair enough. I traveled all the way from Ireland to Spain, fought and won one or two battles all on my own, and now the enemy is attacking MY kingdom, constantly running around in circles so I can't catch up to them and make progress, and putting my gold into the red zone. Meanwhile, the ally who got me into this mess is nowhere to be found, my war contribution reads 100% so he hasn't done a damn thing, and on top of that, he has the gall to call me to ANOTHER war to stop a peasant uprising while I'm already stuck fighting his battles because his army is AWOL. And when I refuse to help him anymore, I'M considered the bad guy?? What the HELL is going on here???

Just don't go into alliances unless you're desperate. They're usually not worth it imo and it's annoying being called into war after war for petty stuff.

Be nice if more information about the war was given in the call to war. At the very least the sum of the forces in the fighting and how much your forces will affect those numbers.

Assassinate him. A new ruler means no more alliance.

I stumbled into the alliance when finding a spouse for another character. I'm just trying to figure out how and why this is happening where the allied forces are disappearing off the face of the Earth and leaving me to finish HIS war on my own.

The worst part is, I can't even cut my losses and surrender because it's technically not my fight. If I disband my armies, the enemy refuses to leave me alone, ransacking my holds while the allied ruler just lets me suffer.

Might but that one of few options here would be to find out whatever the war goal is and achieve it on your own for him.

If the enemy is outrunning you, you might have to use some creativity to get them. Can try to break up your forces and chase them with a weaker force and baiting them to attack you or to let you get close enough to where u can engage them and then bring in the rest of your troops before the battle ends so you can beat them.

But yeah... alliances can cause some big issues atm without a doubt.

Well i had a similar 9 year long war where i was playing as Scotland and was allied with the Poles which silly old me forgot historically turns into chaos so anyways Poland got attacked by Prussia, Pomerania and Cumania.I was bored so i joined it sent my army down with my king leading it we got battered. I was imprisoned tried to escape and failed so i raised my army up again with my son leading it he got killed along with all my other kids in the battle and my wife hit her 40s when i was in there so basically i was doomed. The war was basically one moment Poland is winning the next its Prussia in the end it finally ended with us winning but of course I HAD NO HEIR. Moral of the story screw allies and screw the pope not liking divorces. And yes i know not helping you but thats always a fun experience too think about for me.
