Age and Fertility
How until a character stops having babies?

I have an excellent heir, but he never produced a son with his wife who I selected because of her inheritable traits. Now I'm playing my heir and he is still relatively young, but his wife is already 57.

Is it worth me even trying to seduce her or are the chance for more children shot?

At 57 I think your chances are pretty much shot when it comes to women. I've had men have children in their 90s though. https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/Attributes#Fertility

"I've had men have children in their 90s" Yup, definitely legitimate children, no need to investigate your spouses private time. Being serious, it is kind of funny how late the men can have kids.

As far as I can tell the fertility drop-off's just a straight 50% for 70+. So at the hypothetical maximum age of 120 ish, you're as fertile as a 70 year old (assuming no negative traits which you almost certainly would have).
Unfortunately I do (investigate their private time). I've become completely indifferent to adultery in my 100s of hours. It's pretty ridiculously common. I'd still figure that just playing the odds at least one of the multiple 90+ year old children have been legitimate. I remember that one of my wives wouldn't stop having an affair with my brother who was actually even older than me in one playthrough. Then there was the time my son was buggering my wife so I executed her and then he started having sex with my mother. I made him my heir naturally.

Your title/rank kind of effects how many live children you can have. like an emperor/king can only have like 13 living children, and if you're unlanded you can only have like 2.

Women lose all their fertility pretty much (without fertility boosting traits like lust and fecund) when they hit about late 40/ early 50s.

men maintain their fertility longer but I've noticed a greater amount of birth defects on children coming from older men.

Matrilenal marry your daughter heir and hope you get a good son next time.

I don't think that's right. "Note: you have a maximal number of children : 9 living children plus 2 per additional consort (so 15 with 4 wives). This does not stop event driven pregnancies." https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/Attributes#Fertility
