If you go Orthodox however you can grab Rome without as many repercussions and potentially reform the Roman Empire after taking over the Byzantine Emperor.
If you're a vassal for long enough, negotiating a favorable contract with the Eastern Roman Emperor (low taxes, low levy, march) can put you in a strong position to expand into Italy or North Africa with the protection of the Empire.
If you have faith, of course, not by mere hypocrisy to serve your ambitions. Otherwise you'll end in hell because in both religions the so-called god doesn't like it and you can't fight it or negociate with it.
