Anyone Played Prussia through?
I was wondering if you convert to Catholic you will get the Teutonic Knights that were in Konigsberg? Or is 1000 too early for them? Also is it worth it to just stay Vidilism? Just went Feudal and lost thousands of troops!

I've played Prussia and didn't get the knights. I see two main paths that will make the campaign easier. Path one is to become a vassal of Poland and expand southward, and path two is to expand westward and join the HRE. I've done both and personally prefer the second path as it allows you to rp as Brandenburg-Prussia. If you really want to go an interesting path, then I'd recommend playing as Frederick Von Hohenzollern. He's SOMETIMES an unlanded member of Neutchatel's court in the 1066 start date. You'll have to reload until he appears. Then you can grant him land, switch over, and rp to your heart's content. I'd recommend forming Switzerland, invading Prussia, granting it to one of your sons, and switching over. You can then form the German Empire as the Hohenzollern's centuries early.

The Teutonic Order did not settle into Prussia until 1226. And they weren't native Prussians; they were invited by the Duke of Masovia (Polish) to protect his borders by kicking out the pagan prussians living in Prussia.

So it would be literally impossible to form the TO while playing as Prussia (in terms of CK2/3) because they didn't form the TO historically.

That said, if there ever was a northern crusade (I know it could fire in CK2) and you conquered the land; would be neat if you could form the Teutonic Order instead of Prussia.

The Prussians in CK2/3 are these guys[en.wikipedia.org], not the EU3/4 Prussians (who were Germans). Same way the CK Pomeranians aren't the same as the (German) Pomeranians of EU.

@OP I apologize, I misunderstood. I don't think you'll get the knights to settle in your lands like could happen in CK2. I think instead you could take the "Found Holy Order" decision, and make your own and call them the Teutonic Knights; but I don't think it is an event in CK3.

Ah ya thanks for the comments and all make sense. I forgot the TO was actually a state (EUIV)!

I mean, the TO is a possible Holy Order for Catholics but I don't think there is anything special beyond the name and being able to form them. You can't play as Holy Orders (or Theocracies in general) either. There may be some mods that allow for some shenanigans, but I haven't done any research and can't suggest any off hand.

Yeah I generally play ironman so no mods. I think my bigger choice is to go Catholic or not. They are moving in all around me most of central Europe is becoming Catholic, they are on most of the southern and western borders. just us on the Baltic holding out mostly.

Their cities and temple holdings make for some good raiding sometimes though.
