Catholics losing crusades
Ok, I haven't played a christian ruler in a while, decided to play one now and realised we always lose the crusades. Right now, we are preparing for another one and the opposite side have double the soldiers. Also, when I was playing asatru rulers, beating crusades was easy as hell. (probably because it's easy to make big empires with asatru religion) Kinda makes me not wanna participate anymore... And for some reason not a single king is joining, just a few counts and dukes, but even when we do have the soldiers to win, the AI just doesn't cooperate. Is that supposed to happen? Anyone else have similar experiences or am I doing something wrong? I mean, I know I don't have too much control over it, but still, kinda frustating.

Until youre strong enough to personally win it for them they have no chance. Ive never seen a successful crusade that I never took part in (since the patches), at launch they werent this bad.

The enemies run around in a doom stack while the crusades stand there in small groups waiting to be picked off 1 by 1. When the enemy attacks they all combine, while the crusaders run away.

Its the same problem when they holy war against you, I was outnumbered 100,000 to 50,000 and they still lost in under 2 year

Crusades on the other side of the world are a logisitical nightmare (coincidentally just like their real-world counterparts). If you want Europeans to Crusade effectively, redirect them somewhere close like Spain or Prussia.

If you want to win a Crusade for Jerusalem, you'll need to carry the weight yourself, or just get lucky enough for the Crusade to be called at a time where the defender is indesposed.

Yep, exactly what happens with me. So annoying.

Oh, good idea, I'll try to redirect next time. Never done it before.
