if they fight with another vassal its up to them.
you can request the vassals to stop, which they often refuse.
you have to raise crown authority.
If your vassal is fighting with a subvassal you can use the option "revoke vassal" which stops the war immediatly.
If someone from outside of your realm is attacking your vassal he should already be in war with you.
It could be under some circumstances, i believe, that if his subvassals form a faction that would bring another ruler from another realm onto the throne thats the only way you could lose land when the vassal loses.
as said above you have to revoke the vassal from him and make this vassal a direct vassal of yourself. this stops the war immediatly
a) you get war declared on you and lose / surrender
b) there is a pop-up from a populist/independence faction and you accept their demands
c) your vassal is waging a subjugation war on a foreign realm - if he wins, he hijacks that realm and becomes independent from you (assuming the target title was equal or higher than yours)
d) someone from a foreign realm inherits land from your realm
e) your succession law is confederate partition, and you have enough land to create multiple titles of your own highest rank
Generally the tribal realms are unstable, feudal realms in 1066 are the actual purpose of the game.
That's not how it works. If you want to claim land, you declare on the target's liege. Try it for yourself. If you try to take Anjou, you're going to have to declare war on the King of France.
If you're going to bump an old question it makes more sense to bump one that asks a good question in the first place.
"Why can't I automatically join any vassal's war, or vassal of a vassal, or however far down the line IF I am the top level liege of all of those people?" is a better question because you CAN join a vassal's war in several ways for several reasons.
If it is a revolt you just ask them. You can frequently just ask. If you ally them you can join allies' wars. If they are several levels removed from you the taxes you collect are inconsequential and will be paid no matter who ends up owning the land in the end. If you're not going to lose any territory it doesn't really make much difference who holds the title. If you have a particular interest in who owns that piece of real estate vassalize them directly OR ally them.
If they are not doing what you want them to do act like a king or emperor instead of being grumpy that the game isn't doing what you would prefer it to do. Revoke titles. Declare war. Murder and imprison people. If you're going to try and rule giant pieces of land rule them already when your subjects and neighbors misbehave.
