Reforming Asatru, Head of faith or not?
I am about to reform Asatru (actually been like months ago twice now but my ruler died). I wonder if I should go with head of faith or not. I remmeber I used that and was the head of faith when playing CK2. I remember it was useful but not sure if it is good oor not in CK3. At the moment I am pretty powerful and is Emperor of Scandinavia (and Ireland) with additional land as well. But no other Asatru rulers.

Going for Head of Faith will give you even more control over your Empire as you'll be combining temporal power with spiritual power.

Agreed. Being Head of faith is a good thing to have. But you must be careful to not lose it through murky inheritance, especially with partition laws.

Hmm who get the head of faith? Is it not the ruler or is it selected of highest piety or something? I do have electional succession (even on my duchies).

Def Head of faith. Not spiritual tho. Idk what happened but lately every faith i create with spiritual head of faith doctrine ends up with it vacant. I try creating the title and it eats my gold and nothing happens. Weird. Temporal is better anyway. Lol.

Spiritual is given to a prominent follower of the faith aka random dude somewhere
Temporal goes to whoever created the faith and is inherited by their heir

Yes, but temporal Head of Faith may have different succession rules. usually they are elected by the current Head of Faith.

I had the situation once where I was the Head for the Astartu and had a Scandinavian elective going. Then the electors switched their vote directly before my current ruler died, so the old heir became the head of faith and the new heir became my player heir, since I could not follow up with the electors choice fast enough..
