Ways to revoke a title without tyranny?
As title said, even if the holder a known criminal and you tried to imprison him and he decline, it will consider a tyrannical act.

If you try to imprison a criminal and he won't accept, you just start a war against him, beat him then he is automatically put in jail and you can revoke his title. Not considered tyrannical because he is a known criminal.

If they are a religion yours finds evil you can do it no tyranny. Also try and get a hook on the person that might work too.

Also if you have a claim (or you fabricate one with your Court Chaplain).

Thanks guys, looks like I was wrong with the known criminal, you can imprison without penalty and I'm aware about fabricating claim before revoking.

Can you really imprison someone you have hook on and then revoke his title?

Having a hook on someone increases the chance of the character accepting the imprisonment but it would still be Tyrannical if you don't have a valid reason to revoke the title

I mean tyranny is only a -20 opinion modifier so usually I just roll with it. Careful because it stacks thought.
Yeah, people forget that tyranny decays. It's not fast, I think something like 0.25/mo, but even 20 tyranny will wear off after about ~6.5 years. And if you have no tyranny to burn off, that capacity is wasted.

Moral of the story: ALWAYS be a (relatively petty) tyrant, or you're missing out :)

More exactly, if you imprison a criminal, he will be considered to have been "punished" for his crime already and you won't be able to revoke his title without tyranny. If he rebels instead when you imprison him, crushing his rebellion down will imprison him, while still considering his crime unpunished. Then you can revoke a title from him without complaint.

Yeah just revoke a title once every decade and nobody will care, especially if you hold feasts and have over 10 diplo

ohhh, that makes sense although when he rebel he brings in his friend (disgruntled vassals) and usually everyone hates me xD.

hmm, thats true, thanks for the tip. what does feast gives other than prestige and stress loss? they cost over 100g in my game which is a lot.

People who attend the feast gain 20 opinion of you.

ha! Yeah, I always do this once I get level 3 crown authority and want to clean up border gore. Just set the chancellor to domestic affairs and it smooths things over! And if somebody actually rebels, all the better! You probably get some new domain counties out of it!

I mean, the person from whom you take the title will hate you, of course. Can't really get around that.

Not sure but it's worth it because it's always cheaper than spending 100+ per gift per people for sometimes barely any opinion gain.
