Dumb question dose landing a lowborn create a house for them?
So I never thought to check while I was playing. But say I have a vassal who is good and likes me but is lowborn with no house. so a grant them a county. Will they create a new house or just marry a noble women and use her house?

They will create a new dynasty unless they're republican. So if the lowborn used to be a mayor or if you give him a county with a city capital, then they will stay lowborn, because that county will be a republic.

I know this post is 4 years old but just to add a bit of clarity, Republic rulers do become landed nobles, it's just that it starts a tier higher, at a duchy title.

Yes IF you grant a county or barony to a lowborn, they will be called in some reference to the barony/county you granted them...I have seen a rare occasion of some odd naming...but rare.
