Why is adultery so insanely common?

Seriously. Each of my kings so far (3) has had to jail at least one cheating wife, and one of my vassals cucks another at least once or twice a year. My dungeon is stuffed to bursting with adulterers and it's starting to get absurd.

It's stupid and insane. The devs have some kind of thing going on - the game world is basically a swinger club on ecstacy and viagra. There are mods that remove the seduction/cheating, but when you use them - it removes almost 70% of the activity in the game. The game needs a LOT more depth. It started in CK2 with Way of Life, an expansion that added the Lifestyle Perks. For some reason, the AI fell in love with seduction and lover schemes on your lover/soulmate wives.

Before the recent update, the AI would just steal every decent heir you make - all of a sudden, you get an event popup that some newly spawned syphilitic dwarf who lives across the world has become your soulmate wive's lover - and your good heir is now his lowborn bastard child. You could use debug to see the event make the changes to the characters and spawn the new character, and you can find the events in the game which allow the AI to do this. They made it so the AI cannot take that action because it just went haywire with it.

I think the AI cannot handle seduction mechanics, so it just goes haywire. I wish the entire Lifestyle System could be reworked to make characters take lifestyles that match their Personality (such as Content Analyzer or Vile Blackguard), and engage in schemes that suit those lifestyles and personalities. Most of the AIs just seem to go for Seduction tree and ruin the game by seducing everyone.

You're objectively, 100% wrong. Cheating is breaking a social contract within a relationship. So if there's an agreement or mutual understanding to not watch porn, then watching it would be considered cheating. I have a few friends who insist "you can only watch porn when watching it with me", and another friend with his wife, they just watch different porn and have slightly different kinks and fetishes, so they watch separately.

Some people don't consider sexual actions cheating - such as Swinging or Polyamory (the religious Tenet is based on a real alternative lifestyle). Most of these people still have rules and boundaries, and have the support and consent of their partner to pursue these extra relations.

At the end of the day - what is cheating depends on what agreements you establish with your partner. This is why I always stress to people to communicate and become an expert at interpersonal communication. Many relationship failures are the result of a communication breakdown, and many toxic issues can be positively solved with good communication standards and practices.

I agree - after all, ethical relations would have him start by notifying you of his intent, and determining your feelings before proceeding. Since he didn't take this step, he's not really Poly, he's just a cheater. Therefore, his actions are a crime.

Just remember to have your guards march a pike with his head on it around town for a few days to remind everyone the Bro Code. "Don't come near me woman, ale, money, family, or titles - and we fine!"

Nah, my current king had like +80 rep with his wife, four kids with her already that did turn out to be his and it still happened. With his own uncle no less. And the dozens of vassals that get caught ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around can't all be in loveless marriages or whatever.

It's just dumb, the chance is absurdly high and when combined with all the other weird ♥♥♥♥ your vassals can get up to (buggery, incest, cannibalism, etc) you wind up feeling like the manager of an insane asylum, not the king of a (somewhat) functional country. Not saying these events shouldn't happen, but they should be rare enough that when they do it actually means something instead of just "oh man, my 28th vassal turned out to be an adulterous cannibal pederast, what a surprise."
