its been nearly 100 years of play and nothing, it always changes to someone who's not me, this is the first time i ever encountered this, im the most influential member of the dynasty, i rule 2 kingdoms (while the rest rules duchies or counties) and im culture head but ig not not dynasty head material lmao
A) all other dynasty members which are not below you in succession need to die
B) you need to somehow become the heir of the house head
C) you need to become feudal/clan
D) the dynasty head needs to become feudal/clan (this actually allows tribal dynasty members to form cadet branches, as of patch 1.03)
ok so to test what you said, i used a mod and started murdering everyone that was inheriting the house head position to see where i was in line and after i murdered about 30 people (!) my daughter (!) who come after me (!) became the house head and at that point i gave up
i'm a successful king that ruled for nearly 40y so far i can live with not being the dynasty head, f.uck 'em lmaoo
So either their last member dies, then my ruler becomes both dynasty and house head.
Or one time the current house head became feudal, and i got the special notification about forming a cadet branch. Lastly you can also win a crusade and move on, but that's not an option for you.
And i think it's been said a hundred times already - don't give land to your heirs. Things like that will happen.
i usually give lands to my kids but not the heir specifically but somehow she got her hands into a kingdom claim and i pushed it and im her primary heir and i doubt she'll have children so, either she'll die and i'll get her kingdom or i'll die and play as her and have everything - i dont regret a thing lmao
