The Reconquista
Does any events trigger this?, every play through I have had so far, unless I specificaly go Spain the Umayyad Caliphate is out of control. They easily take most of North Africa, Spain, the entirety of France, parts of Britain and for whatever reason they seem to like conquering Scandinavia. Seems to be an issue with both the Umayyad and Byzantium blob.

Only once I had muslims take the whole iberia, but that was not Umayyad, but a bunch of different factions, as Umayyad breaks into pieces pretty early in my experience.

I've found completing the Reconquesta impossible. Not because the Andalusian Kingdoms can't be conquered, but because every Crusader Kingdom established converts to islam the moment the founder dies and Islam is left more entrenched there.

Yeah had that issue too in one play through, Spain did get partly unified under at least 1 king, he died, it all fell apart, back to islamic control again. Sometime around 1150 I was fighting a muslim horde of nearly 50k troops as the King of Bavaria with less than half that number.

I play exclusively from the 800's start, and have not seen this happen despite 4 games going past the 1100 mark. West Francia and Wessex are usually the victors and all the crusades I have seen launched have been at Astaru rulers in England, and the byzantines nearly always fall unless India attacks the Abbysids.

What is the state of Spain in your games generaly?

(Only played 867 start)

4/5 games muslims conquer spain bit by bit. Catholics gone in 100 years.

1/5 game I see Asturias survive and see Aquitaine/France move into Catalonia and Valencia.

In my current game Asturias has almost united the entire peninsula and made it catholic. The ruler is still visigothic as well in 1050.

Early on Norse Astaru take it, pretty much every time they take all the coastal lands to the north and east, but eventually they lose it to the Muslims or whatever Catholic Spanish survived. But there is never an empire with more than half the land there at a time, I haven't seen Spain be impactful since West Francia crushes everything they throw its way in mid game and Norse bully it to death in early. But 4 games isn't the biggest data pool to work with

What's the deal with this achievement? Does this have to be done from the earlier start date or something? Because three generations in, I finally got the last county converted in my Infanta Urraca (Castilian) campaign, and nothing. Am I missing something?

Do I need to personally hold every single county in Iberia? Because France does still own a few little pieces (which vexes me, but what are you going to do?).

no, it can be done from 1066 start. that's how i did it.

yes, you have to have all iberia within your realm. from what i can see you're missing a few counties.

I guess it makes sense, though the achievement description isn't very clear about it. It merely says that all of Iberia needs to be converted to Christian.

Whelp... time to declare war on France, I guess. I keep waiting for the queen to die so I can get them during a succession. She's 60 and obese. Come on!
