Witchcraft kinda underwhelming
I was having one of my children being educated by his mother, and it turns out she was a witch. I decided to roll with it and converted my entire house, parts of the 16 cadet branches, the pope, and several foreign kings to witchcraft. I was kinda bummed when I finally was able to form a coven. It seems you just get a decision every 10 years that gives you some perks, and a permanent good dynasty modifier. Was it more involved in ck2, or will it probably remain this shallow?

100% agree, saw one or two event happen my entire life as a secret witch and couldn't do anything with it myself.

Lol XD. This is one area where I'd really welcome some complete and utter unrealism. Turning your coven into a religion, cursing people, putting good charms on people, sacrificing people for faith, etc. I'm really hoping they'll add a system where you create your coven and it starts as a secret proto unreformed religion. (Like that you still appear as your old religion to people that don't know the secret) and as you bring in more people, hold ceremonies, and sacrifice people, you're able to get stronger tenets and eventually turn your coven into an unreformed faith.

i wish there were more to it as well, first time i made a grand coven i was so confused cuz seemingly nothing happened, only later i realized i had gained a house modifier and even then didn't felt worth it - game should at least tell you "hey your house/dynasty is getting this modifier, enjoy" just like when you consecrate your bloodline

i use a mod where i can set any trait i want as virtue of a faith so i have witch characters gain +20 opinion for it being a "blessed virtue" lol

Witchcraft was more involved in CK2. In that game if you had the Monks and Mystics DLC you could join a Satanist Cult whose members preformed human sacrifice, cast spells to curse, possess, or their enemies, summoned demons, carried out disturbed hedonistic orgies, and sometimes traveled around murdering civilians. Of course if you wanted to you could choose to just turn off witchcraft altogether.

In CK3 witches don't do any of those things. I find this a little disappointing because the way CK2 portrayed it helped you understand why the medieval mind was so afraid of witches. Instead of just saying "haha past people so stupid" it forced players to put themselves in the shoes of the people of the age.

Yeah, but i'd take no boost with more interactions and depth over a flat modifier any day

yeah its pretyt lame. Another frustrating thing is I don't know how to *quit* being a witch. I'm tired of people trying to blackmail me but there's no optoin to just say yeah I foreswear the horned god because he doesn't really do much and is more of a liability than an asset.

Lol just convert your religious head and your liege if you have one and then just refuse the blackmail. Several of my dynasty got outed but none of us were excommunicated by our fellow witch the pope XD

They got rid of all the obvious supernatural stuff(things like regrowing limbs which obviously doesn't happen in real life). That said the permanent bonus for your entire house is actually very powerful and useful, it just isn't as cool as actual magic.

Except witches didn't actually exist and witch hysteria killed a lot of innocent people, so they were stupid.
