Personally I really dislike this feature. It seems to not work as most people would expect and vassals of vassals are still constantly going after each other and a law really shouldn't stop someone who is willing to murder for their own gain. So I rather would like some Fame penalty + being marked a criminal instead.
I totally agree with what you said. They should point out why I cannot declare war. Also, I should be able to declare war for certain penalties.
"Vassals cannot declare war on fellow Vassals without a Hook on the Liege"
Which liege do they mean? My liege, the king of France, or the liege of the vassal whose county I want to take?

And of course there is the good old liberty faction.
TBH i have no idea why people want to deliberately play as vassals.
Oh, right--modify the feudal contract. Thanks. I never really played feudal before. Kind of sucks, I may need to give up more levies to this guy. Probably worth it to get everything wrapped up into a nice duchy, though.
