TBH i have no idea why people want to deliberately play as vassals.

Your Liege likely has increases his crown authority to level 3. Since the patch it is not displayed anymore when hovering over the declare war button.
Personally I really dislike this feature. It seems to not work as most people would expect and vassals of vassals are still constantly going after each other and a law really shouldn't stop someone who is willing to murder for their own gain. So I rather would like some Fame penalty + being marked a criminal instead.

What you said was true. Really thank you.
I totally agree with what you said. They should point out why I cannot declare war. Also, I should be able to declare war for certain penalties.

I am sure this used to be the case before the patch, so it probably will be back. I just had this myself. Most annoying part: It still lists all of them under wars I could declare.

This just happened to me, as well. I spent three years fabricating a claim that would have allowed me to finally usurp the duchy title, and then my king passed crown authority level 3. Is there no way for me to press that claim now?

"Vassals cannot declare war on fellow Vassals without a Hook on the Liege"

Which liege do they mean? My liege, the king of France, or the liege of the vassal whose county I want to take?

Oh, right--modify the feudal contract. Thanks. I never really played feudal before. Kind of sucks, I may need to give up more levies to this guy. Probably worth it to get everything wrapped up into a nice duchy, though.

I've got this problem as well, however... Liege is at Crown Authority 2. Playing as Byzantine Duke and (see below) the liege is Crown Authority 2, I have no troops raised, I have no truce with the relevant counties, and I am not allied with either of the two counties I'm trying to declare war on. Is there something I'm missing? PLEASE help.
