Why won't the pope start a new crusade?
It's 1058 AD and the last crusade I think my great grandfather fought in.

If it makes a difference I think there were 3 different holy wars early on in the game for Jerusalem in which each one lost...

IIRC the pope only calls crusades for holy sites held by faiths he considers evil, check who holds the county as well as the faith in the county. crusades also have a cooldown and are dependant on the fervor of the faith trying to call it

Jerusalem has never not been owned by someone with the ash'ari faith in my game - fervor is 61%
