Imprison fornicators
Is there an advantage or reason to try to imprison the never-ending stream of fornicators?

I dont really see any. Most of the time its a nobody with hardly any amount of gold to their name so they can't pay ransom. And even if you think someone should be executed for it (which i strongly disagree) its considered tyranny so... Most times all you can do is toss 'em in jail and let them go free. Or, you can also move them to dungeon and forget about them and they'll die soon enough. Thats one way to bypass the tyranny penalty for executing.

Imprison those who actually have enough gold for the ransom, otherwise don't bother, I'd say.

Potential release hooks if they are in a court of someone you want to do hostile actions against

Definitely for the hooks. At the very least, you can hook them to switch to your religion, which when you let them go helps spread your religion faster. Watch out if they have a sizeable army. If so, imprison and forget: you don't want those fornicators to get started in a Faction against you.

The great thing about having a strict religious code is that it becomes a lot easier to imprison anybody who could be a potential threat.
