You do not get all the land for yourself like with a Holy War or County/Duchy Conquest - but you only receive the title, all lands personally held by the target ruler, and take over his vassals. Because of this, the Kingdom Invasion can be pretty bad if used against a realm with a weak king and strong dukes. It might take a while to sort out the power balance in that realm.
If the target ruler had lands outside of this kingdom, he will move over to that place. Otherwise he is deposed.
Perhaps you targeted the wrong title? That happens sometimes.
To clarify, the enemy had 1 county in kingdom A, the whole lot in kingdom B, and the primary title of King of A. You declared invasion and picked A as target.
No no, I checked, it's all parts of same kingdom. There was only one kingdom to attack on the list as well
