1) load the game as Host
2) press Esc keyboard button
3) press "Switch Character" menu button
4) copy Server Id (bottom-left) and send it to your teammates
1) Host game > 2) select the multiplayer game save file to load > 3) press ESC (there is no option to invite yet) > 4) press load anther game instead > 5) select the same game file again and reload it again > 6) it looks the same but after pressing ESC this time the option to invite is available > 7) press invite to multiplayer, copy the serverid, set a password e.t.c. just do not press begin or return before everyone joined...
I suppose there is a bug with the main menu going directly into singleplayer, but if you load "another" game from ingame it works on the second attempt
If you use the new multiplayer open beta it shouldn't be an issue.
Not sure when they will fully integrate the multiplayer open beta into the game - hopefully with the new DLC/Update
In reference to remove-ironman-and-enddate-from-savefile ...
This is the solution to continue an ironman-multiplayer game. You'll lose the ironman status, though. The first 3 steps need to be done right after you exit your fresh ironman-multiplayer game. If you do this later, my guess is your last_save.ck3 won't be there, or will have been overwritten.
1. Exit the game & browse to C:\Users\YOURUSER\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings IIIa.
2. Copy the last_save.ck3 to the 'save games' folder.
3. Change the filename. Keep the .ck3 extension, obviously.
4. Launch the Game in debug mode.
5. Load the save file that you want to convert and then exit the game. (Loading the save file in debug mode disables achievements so this step should decrypt the save file to plain text, it does not turn off ironman though so there is still work to be done).
6. Locate the games save file. For me it was still under "Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games"
7. Open the save file as text file. The standard Notepad application froze while trying to open it, but I was able to do it using notepad++.
8. Use control-f to find lines that mention "ironman". For me it was mentioned 3 times.
9. The first should be at the bottom of the meta_data section. A line that says "ironman=yes". Just change that 'yes' to 'no'.
10. The second instance is the section labeled as "ironman_manager" immediately after the meta_data section. This entire section should be deleted, including everything in the curly brackets which will include the 3rd instance of "ironman" in the file.
11. Search the file for "1453_end_date" and replace it with "no_end_date_end_date"
12. Save the file.
13. Start the game in normal mode.
14. Load the savefile.
15. Escape, open for multiplayer, copy the game_id, send to your friend so he/she can join..
Steps 11 is optional. For me it turned the savegame "invalid" but we were still able to play.
Without step 11 the save remained valid, but just lost the ironman status.
