2nd time I got released straight away
3rd time I asked to ransom, they wouldnt then a few days later they offered me the ransom option
Tho its stupid, when someone of relevant status to you (family/friend) is imprisoned, you should be given an option straight away to try to negotiate their release, either with gold or give them a hook on you and not wait until the jailor feels like it. My heir was imprisoned for nearly an year so he was just letting her rot there. And the vassal was a humble, compassionate and patient AI ontop of that. Like, excuse you. Please act according to your personality. Thanks.
What are my options here? Doesn't seem like I have any the more I think about it. Just wait until my ruler dies and then ransom myself out when I take over as the heir? Kinda sucks.

I only know of the upbringing event for Rowdy children - your son murders the child of a vassal, then you have options to deal with it. One of them imprisons your son.
Otherwise i just don't see a way how a vassal could imprison anyone from your court.
Did you try sending him money?
BTW did i mention already that you should not give land to your heirs ;)
Yeah, not sure. I went back to a previous save. He was definitely fighting the war. At the time of the save, his side has -100 war score and he hadn't been imprisoned yet. His liege must have imprisoned him after winning or something.
ha! Lesson learned, I guess! He already has 265 gold, so I figured that would have been enough to ransom himself out. Maybe the King of Estonia is just being a jerk about it. I really want to go in there and imprison/crush that king now. I don't care if he's my half brother.
And i also had a vassal of mine imprisoned for decades by a foreign ruler, which prevented me from revoking his title (hostile faith). I think he already was in prison when i seized his county as a de jure claim.
Yeah, the war has been over for a while now. He was sitting in prison for probably a year, still landed, but he finally had his titles revoked. It's a little irksome, because this is all within my empire, and I feel like there should be a way to resolve this, either diplomatically or by force.
Follow-up question: is there any downside to giving your player heir a mayorship in a city within one of your counties? Is there a benefit to it? Like, can he start building his diplomatic network, accruing prestige, etc.?
