Female Start Characters?
So, as a female, I'd love to start with a female character. I did so with Matilda, but I was curious if there are anymore on the free choice list? I only found like two among them all, but I haven't clicked each country. Any leader who has a daughter otherwise as heir?

What you can do, is create a new game then go to Search Character and filter "Relation = All", "Gender = Female" and "Ruler = Ruler". That's the only way I had in mind.

Thank you. I tried to find some kind of selection option, but I couldn't really find it. Only the adjustments to the game (like male privilige and so on).

Audr Flatnefr in Iceland 867 is a pretty damn good Norse-Catholic start. Perhaps the best choice to form Norway, but "all options are on the table".

My save 140 years long, the last 110 of them were with female rulers
Not by choice but my first king died of bubonic plague, and every other male has been either murdered or died of plague

There are three female rulers from the recommended start list. Matilda is one of them. If you had not played the other two, they are recommended because of their interesting circumstances, not just because they are female, so they got other things going for them as well.

You might like the Daurama start from the great adventurers section. She is a tribal leader in the earliest start period but what makes her interesting is that you start with a male child at the start of the game but you get a choice where you can either choose to disinherit him and your country will have a female preference from rulers from then on, or you can leave him as your heir and and then males can be rulers. She is one of the best starts if you want a line of all female rulers.

The other one is Infanta in spain, which is considered a hard start. She starts off small but her three brothers are kings and so she has a claim on all their titles. If you are lucky and skilled you can kill off all three brothers and you can end up with half of Spain fairly quickly. Though could probably take a more friendly path with them too.

There are two countesses in the Central Asian steppes in 1066. One of them is Tengrist and the other is Ash'ari.

If I remember correctly; for example, I will start with Duke Robert the Fox in 1066 for the rags to riches story line & use the console command < kill [character id] > until I reach a female character such as Duchess Emma who is around 14 or 15 years old.

Another consideration is changing the rules at the beginning of the game as needed; however, this will prevent obtaining any achievements as well.

(Personally, I do not care about obtaining achievements.)

As a side note, one of the first female rulers we know about is Merneith in 2950 BCE because of her tomb stela; and interesting enough, it looks like an early form of an Alpha & Chi, Rho symbol.

Even using that method - there's like four viable ones in either time period.

Best thing is to use the mod that lets you create your own, to a degree.

thing is, I can't find the option 'search characters' Where on the choose a character side with the large map does that hide?

thank you, yeah I saw them, and Daurama is definitely worth a try at some point, but for a starter quite confusing, for the different rules

There is a mod that lets you create a character. You start normally, choose the option to start the event, and you go through menus to create your own character. Can choose *everything* except actual physical looks other than height and weight. Though I'm not blaming the mod creator for it. I will continue to use this mod until Paradox finally releases their Character Creation dlc like they did in CKII, but using mods obviously disables achievements. You can also choose to disinherit yourself or your family members, or kill them all and inherit their titles. It can lead to you getting like 10 counties even if you don't want it if you select the wrong option, so look for characters with families that has a 1 person alive in their tooltip.

to search for what you want, click on the play as any ruler button on your prefered date, then when on the map, press the c button to bring up search options

You first click the three ellipses then you will find Find Character. The good thing is that the game automatically organize the character by their rank.

You can switch the gender equality options to that female rule everything ! Or to equal ! This will pretty much make almost every leader female !
As a reminder with creating Matriarchies - the AI will not use Matrilineal Marriages. This means your daughter will marry your granddaughter to Patrilineal Marriages which can end your game/dynasty. It is highly advised to either use a mod that forces the AI to use Matrilineal Marriages. This is worse when a daughter becomes landed and takes the grandkids out of your court. So never, EVER let your primary heir go to a different court or become landed until you die.
