This doesn't seem to work for me. I formed the Deccan Empire in India, and it inherited my kingdom's name, Pandya. I then tried to rename it myself but it's still called Pandya. Going back into the rename box, the name I entered is still there but it's not getting used. Any solution?
When i try to rename my Empire it just says " Old Name ( Empire of New Name)"
and on the map it still shows the old name as realm.
Just in case I'm doing something wrong, here are screenshots. Can you verify if it's supposed to work like this or not?

Here's how I entered the new name from the button next to the empire title. The name is active in that screenshot, as seen from "De Jure Kingdoms in the Empire of the Unconquered Sun" above the kingdom list. However, the title remains unchanged and it's still Pandya on the map.

Here's the info box for my emperor. It's my primary title and it only shows the name I entered in parentheses.
Then the new name registered correctly.
yes it was because of this for me
Edit: I guess there is no "indian heritage" but you get the idea. Probably Indo-Aryan heritage and others on the subcontinent
