Probably a bug, coz its works every time for me. Should report it on main forum.

Just in case I'm doing something wrong, here are screenshots. Can you verify if it's supposed to work like this or not?

Here's how I entered the new name from the button next to the empire title. The name is active in that screenshot, as seen from "De Jure Kingdoms in the Empire of the Unconquered Sun" above the kingdom list. However, the title remains unchanged and it's still Pandya on the map.

Here's the info box for my emperor. It's my primary title and it only shows the name I entered in parentheses.

Click your flag, up to top you see a Rename tag. Unless you refer to make your own kingdom, that is an event.

This doesn't seem to work for me. I formed the Deccan Empire in India, and it inherited my kingdom's name, Pandya. I then tried to rename it myself but it's still called Pandya. Going back into the rename box, the name I entered is still there but it's not getting used. Any solution?

Yup, same bug happened for me in India.
When i try to rename my Empire it just says " Old Name ( Empire of New Name)"
and on the map it still shows the old name as realm.

For me it fixed itself after the current ruler died and the heir took over.
Then the new name registered correctly.

I think I found the problem. It's displaying the house name, not the empire name. Changing the house name changes what it says on the map. Which certainly seems wrong. I'm fine with the map displaying the house name in realm view, but it's also using it in empire view. I expect to see the empire name there.

You can try going into settings-> game-> flavor and uncheck the "dynasty named realms" box.

That is because Indian and Arabian heritage causes realms to be named after the ruling house, rather than the title name.

Edit: I guess there is no "indian heritage" but you get the idea. Probably Indo-Aryan heritage and others on the subcontinent

Just want to point out that this is a necro'd thread.
