This game is WAY too much
A 2 hour tutorial and an overly complex game is just not fun. I purchased this hoping for a good time running a sim, but this is WAY too complicated in my opinion.

Don't worry. You don't need to understand everything right away. It'll start to make sense as you play. Just be prepared to lose some games, because things happen. Even if you DO understand all the mechanics. Just do your best and enjoy whatever mess unfolds. I had a LOT of fun in my first games that way.

That's unfortunate. It's definitely not for everyone. If CK3 feels complex, though, I definitely recommend steering clear of CK2 as well.
believe me, once you understand the warfare mechanics everything gets easier

This. When I was learning CK2, I picked one or two mechanics in each playthrough to master. Everything would go to heck after a while, but every playthrough, I'd learn a little more. By the fifth run, I'd mastered all I needed to know to navigate a full game.

Do not play the tutorial. You will learn how to play anyway. Its incredible fun.

I find it very enjoyable. The amount of mechanics and their interaction is very high, but there is no particular "skill" required for each of them.

Common sense, instinct, ability to define and pursue multiple goals, things like that make a campaign successful. I also don't watch any guides or streamers, just playing and discussing on the forums feels more productive.

Fun is subjective
What you find fun could very well be the most boring thing ever to me...and vice versa

Complex games are not for everyone...this is a given
But some people, like me, enjoy them very much

CK3 isnt even too complex and the tutorial is quite good at teaching the essentials (a first for Paradox...)

Oh, and if something in particular confuses you, just come here and ask! I'm sure people can explain things in a simple and straightforward manner.

Don't worry man. I was lost for about 10 hours in this game. But after that, the pieces slowly came together and I really love the complexity. Allow yourself to just push through it.

I know it is weird to get told "trust me.. you will be having fun later", but its what happened for me and I am in awe for a game and can't wait it to play it like I am 16 again.

I wonder how fun was Crusader Kings 2.

You don't have to know everything to play. Just jump in and see what happens.

Ive played a lot of overly complex games in my 40 years of life and let me tell ya this aint one of them .

Exactly! And for the most part there are even helpfull forum members around.

Or you get attacked for posting "historical conjecture" because you assumed a game mechanic is based on actual history.
Or you get attacked fo playing 80 hours and ending up with your first Dutchery plus 3 counties.

My point is.. you'll get attacked! Like in the game! But push through!

If you're saying 'Dutchery' after 80 hours - or even 30 mins - you are doing it wrong ;) Never quite understood why people say Duchy like that.

So yeah, you will get attacked - but oftentimes it's just in good fun like the above.

I agree with the above posters but stick with it, once you have the basics down you can begin to roleplay and get more advanced. I only really played in ireland ,(being irish and not having a clue about the rest of the map. Currently trying to spread my wings, started in a small county near russia, after 7 years im as if i still started the game without unpausing. but enjoying it cause i have to really think. i think thats what brings us all here really, we are grand strategy gamers and like the thinking mans game of working stuff out for the big picture and building an empire, best of luck

We are attacked! Like most things in life its a thing you'll pick up. People says things the wrong way and sometimes you'll pick it up. Especially when your native language isn't English.

About doing it wrong. I don't know. Rushing things to an empire as soon as possible seemed almost.. juvenile to me. In a game with so many options you can allow to get lost in your own agendas.
