Unfortunately elective isn't working properly atm, it's supposed to give your designated heir the capital of the realm but it just gives it to the firstborn of your current ruler.
The succession law does not need to be elective to designate an heir action from high crown authority.
If youre running a conventional partition or single heir succession your heir will get the primary titles over siblings. The succession tab will tell you exactly what they stand to inherit and what titles they will not and who those titles go to.
