Son died from his wounds...
I hate to be the guy that reposts or asks the same question as everyone else without realising, but finding specific info on this game through Google, or Reddit, or here.... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare, so I'll take my chances.

My son just died "from his wounds". I have no idea how he got these wounds, we weren't at war with anyone, and if he was killed in a fight, the game isn't telling me who killed him. Is there any way of finding out what happened?

I'm not upset he's dead, ♥♥♥♥ happens, but how was he wounded?!

Was he trained in martial and did you have your marhal on the middle task (the one that lets him sometimes find new commanders/knights)?. One of the side effects of that is that sometimes someone gets 'wounded during training'. I think not only your knights but anyone trained in martial has a chance to improve their skills but also possibly wounded in the process.

Minor wounds are usually easy to heal if your physician has a skill of around 15 or better, I'd say 80% of the time they will get treated properly, but the catch is you have to have a physician employed when they get wounded because I've never seen anyone who was already wounded be treated by a physician that I hire afterwards.

I think I've worked it out, he has the wounded status still even though he's dead, he must have been wounded when I went to war with another county. I had a physician but I made the decision to search for a new physician even though my previous one had become my right hand, I stupidly thought I needed a new one after 12 months (the options reappeared in my decisions tab... there's a lot to take in as a beginner!). Maybe when I began a new search I dismissed the old one, leaving him without a carer?

I was never notified of his injuries though. Guess I'll just put it down to experience. Cheers for your help though.

I had a son that died from his wounds. I thought it was cause of war, but he kept getting them after wars. Well actually he didn't die *from* the wounds, he just died from the physican that seemed to sabtouged his recovery.

As to how he got those wounds? I think he had a callous or sadistic wife so there's that.

Yeah, maybe it's meant to be a mystery. But at least if the game said "how the wounds appeared are a mystery", I'd at least know something sinister was going on. But they really should say how the wounds were incurred no matter how they appeared.

How they get wounds can be tough to say. If they are with another court, perhaps civil war, or they had an event that causes wounds, etc.

My tip if nothing else, make sure you have physican, mind their traits. You probaly wouldn't want a sadist at the helm. If they're high in learning like 15+ and like you they'll likely do a good job at keeping them from not dying.

(You also don't even need to do the event/descion just appoint the best courtier, 9/10 they'll be better if you know they have good learning and far cheaper. If you got a good bishop or religous figure appoint him, it'll give extra opinion so they'll like you and support you more.)

There are a number of ways you can get wounded. Hunting or riding accidents. Being flagellant. Getting into a brawl. It's hard to say just how he got wounded if you didn't get an event popup about it, but if he has the Flagellant trait, he probably got them while he was letting off steam. Flagellant characters like to atone for their sins by suffering physical abuse.
Plenty of scenarios present an option for yourself or someone else getting wounded in small print. If you don't pay close attention you may click on one by accident. When you do so a wound happens and there is no further notification. Just have to try to read carefully.
