If you mean the number in the top right, that's the holdings that are personally in your name. If so you will have to grant them to other vassals or create new vassals. Alternatively see if you can set your spouse to maintain realm, this may bump up your maximum holding amount.

Apologies, I've never grown that big to see that message.

I take it to be that big you must be managing an Empire, would assigning dukes to kings be of help?

Did you find a solution?

The only other thing I could think of is to take the titles off enough vassals to get you back to the limit and then give those titles to people who already hold land.

I have same problem, 90/60 so 30 over, I gave an earl as a vassal to a duke, I was expecting it to show 89/60 but its the same:(

However im totally new to CK:P so im prob missing something.

This happened to me. I had to unpause the game for a span of about a month for the game to update that I had actually transfered vassals.
I think its a bug. I just recently reached above vassal limit as an emperor which has a higher limit and I already gave kingdoms/duchy away to vassal and it still wont go down.

There seems to be a delay between your changing # of vassals and the game checking the number for the limit. Did you give it an in-game month and see if it updated?

I’ve given it an in game decade lol. Guess I don’t get vassal tax or levies no more

I tried to play it in game see if it would change in a month or year but nothing changed.

There are some post on reddit like this one below that are experiencing same problem and other post in ck forum said they experienced it at game launch 1.02
However I tried the suggestion to grant independence and the vassal limit change but other suggestions didnt work. They are not using any mods also.

Looks like we have an official major bug here.

Man this is the kind of ♥♥♥♥ that pisses off people at pdx games. This is such an obvious bug that you get just from playing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. How on hell was it not discovered?

It works like it should for me. It only counts my direct vassals and not my vassals vassals.

However when I grant someone vassals it does take a long time for the vassal limit to update. It also seem to be a bit inconsistent. It might not even be tied to time. The only observable event taking place when it updates is that one of my vassals die.

Definitely an oversight!

What does your Realm panel look like? The number up top that counts your various types of (direct) vassals updates instantly, but the vassal limit number at the bottom does not. Do the numbers differ?

If they do it's only a matter of waiting. Or you could try executing one of your vassals. That updated the limits for me. :)
