Right in the first paragraph. The chart below also details what exactly triggers the GHW era early.
1. Is your pope a slime ball?
2. Have others been using the Holy War option.
Such things lower your fervor. I suspect, the Catholics have been abusing Holy Wars, and your Pope is a slime ball.
It all adds up on Fervor, it carries over from Pope to Pope.
