Some people like weak dukes, I personally like strong dukes.
I'll let others debate the pros and cons of that, thats what i do tho
You cannot give it to unlanded, unless you also have a county in there to give away. Duke must have a county.
The big lesson here is don't form titles you don't have to!
If you're a king - never give a kingdom title to anybody or even create one.
Obviously. But don't do it when you're about to die and haven't formed the empire yet.
3 of your kids will get each title thus splitting.
Depends on your playstyle, if you can put a dynasty member in charge of an independent duchy or kingdom you don't want or need it'll boost your renown growth.
Example, Duchy of Mann only has one county in it with two holding slots. Gives you basically nothing to have a vassal holding it, but if it's an independent Petty Kingdom with your cousin on the throne that's a free +0.5 renown, which is useful even if you're a King because that's 50% more renown basically for free.
