Why accept Call to War when you can just Offer to Join War?
Can anyone help me understand why you would accept a call to war when you can just offer to join war?

Accepting Calls to War will take away 150 Prestige from the caller, and prevent -10 Opinion drop.

But if you just take the -10 hit by rejecting, and Offer to Join War right after, you get contribution to war (I'm getting instant +100 with -1/mo) AND Friendship which is a flat +60 and doesn't seem to drop.

Why would anyone accept calls to war knowing this?

Seems like a bug or at least an oversight.
Yeah i've noticed that too.

You always get an opinion boost, based on your war contribution score. So 100% contribution = 100 opinion.
Every time I raise my army to go raid... I get spammed with requests to join wars, go attack som place out in nowhere, for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason.. sigh.

Well yeah, i'm not sure if this was just unlucky timing, but can also confirm something similar.

Preparing a massive Holy War over Duchy/Kingdom where the target has 5+ allies. Exactly when i press "DECLARE WAR", i get at least three requests for call to arms.
Well, I might have run into a weird case just now. My queen who is also a vassal with a county-rank title just asked me to go to war with a neighboring duchy-rank realm and it seems I can't just offer to join war.

See imgur, she is warring with Principality of Deheubarth and I cannot offer to join war since she is not putting down a peasant revolt.

Seems a little weird but I guess you can't offer to help your vassals punch up, only down. I still don't think it makes a lot of sense for it to reward you for rejecting calls to war from allies only to offer and get better rewards.
What file do I need to edit to make it so declining allies call to war makes you lose 200 prestige on top of the -20 negative opinion modifier?
This could be fixed by either...

A. Making you unable to join an ally's war for a period of time after declining.
B. Adding a prestige drop.
C. Increasing the opinion modifier.
D. Adding a harsh temporary "refused my call to war" modifier on attempts to call the ally into wars, lasting about two years.
You should just not get any special bonuses. So if you join late you suffer from the opinion loss(for refusing) and gain nothing special. However you should still get contribution bonuses, since you get those regardless.
I miss the ability to join defensive wars of the same religion. It sucks to see your small neighbors getting ROFL-stomped and you just know that when they're gone, you're next.

I did just notice a while ago that the perk to form alliances without marriages is in one of the diplomacy trait trees. I was wondering how the AI was able to offer me those on occasion.
