Court Physician?
How important is this to have? I feel like I have played more time without one than with one. My first experience with one was having my king castrated. So I'm not sure how I feel about them.

Most important thing. TBH i wonder why the game doesn't go auto-pause with a huge red alert whenever you don't have one.

Note that you can also assign anyone directly as court physician, you don't have to rely on the random candidates from the "find physician" decision. Anyone with high learning skill can do the job, they will also try to improve their skills via lifestyle.

Yep, one of the first things to get, so people can be healed up after battle.

A lack of one, is probably why everyone complains that all their knights die.

Heh - well, I had instance of my heir being castrated, and that probably had something to do with my daughter, who was second in line for the throne, being the physician. Make sure your physician and spymasters like you, and make sure they're not family with any sort of claim on the throne. Unless you're in desperate need for a cure (if you have cancer), I'd steer clear of the riskier treatments. But, yes, physicians are important to have around. Not just for you, but for the entire court, which includes your family. Generally they're a big positive.

Also gonna add that even with an average physican, you can survive for decades with potentially lethal ailments like Gout. As long as the conservative treatment option works, the health penalty from ailments can be actively suppressed.

Literally! Had my character as a seducer and then he got some sort of illness, tried to cure it and the physician chopped his balls off lol

I got ill while on pilgrimage and returned to home but court physician didn't take care of me yet.

There's "seek treatment" option in CK2 but i can't see it in here, am i missing something ?

Yep, when the physician is new, I would not let them do anything. LOL

Oh, and I think it is important to pick someone with a high learning skill.

wait till your sister as the Court Physician decides the best way to heal you is to oil you up and give you a happy ending

physicians should always be your lovers, and never have the trait deceptive, this is also true for your spymaster, as even 100 positive friend, doesn't deter a spymaster from killing you, in my experience.

also if you get intrigue events gifts or the like and your spymaster has the highest intrigue in the realm, take a guess who is trying to kill you.

It is a passive boost - if you look in your Ruler's character window and hover the mouse over the Ill trait it should show you that it is being treated. If it isn't there then there is a seperate icon on the Ruler stat window (I cannot remember what it is - i think it could be a heart icon that comes up on that window to indicate health boosts/debuffs) that will show the level of medical care being administered. When you have a major illness and you are close to death you will get an event option from your physician, provided you have one.
